Overview

NJM Insurance Group is looking for an initiative-taking, inquisitive, and enthusiastic data-focused person who is interested in working in the insurance industry with the Medical Services Business Intelligence and Analytics Team. This position will work closely with all areas of our Medical Services Department as well as areas in other lines of business within NJM. The appropriate candidate will be involved in the maintenance of existing reports, the creation of new reports and participate in data studies looking for and addressing data patterns involving Medical Payments, Medical Procedures and Claim Details.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate requirement gathering, analysis, and test execution activities in support of data projects.
  • Perform in-depth analysis into metrics and costs related to Medical Services Department activities.
  • Support the refresh and distribution of monthly reports with accompanying insight into trends, patterns and/or anomalies.
  • Support the maintenance of existing SAS data sets as well as assist with our move to SQL.
  • Assist with deep dive analysis to investigate and resolve questions from Medical Services, other departments, and NJM management.
  • Assist with creating and maintaining technical documentation, mapping documents, data dictionaries.
  • Assist with ad hoc report/data requests.
  • Function as a business technical liaison for the department.
  • Assist with other data-related activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred: Computer Science, Business Intelligence/Data Analytics, Statistics.
  • Self-directed learner with the ability to learn quickly and pursue exhibit enthusiasm.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to frequent and unexpected changes.
  • High level of intellectual curiosity.
  • Ability to work with SQL, SAS, Power BI, and MSA Office Suite.
  • Understanding of relational databases.
  • Ability to work well on a team or individually.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify and recommend process improvements and solutions.
